Tension control roll
A tension control roll is needed for measuring the tension within a web and can be used for controlling of a following drive (pull rolls, winder).
A tension control roll consists of an idler roll which is supported on both sides in load cells and which is wrapped by the web in a defined angle. The load cells are sensing the mechanical load of the roll and transmits this signal by an amplifier into an electrical signal. Thereby the actual tension can be displayed.
The tension signal also can be used for a following pull roll system. Therefore the actual tension within the web is compared with a preset figure set by the operator. At differences a correction signal is given to the drive of the pull rolls.
