The next generation is ready to take off

At the start of the new year, we have undergone a significant change, as we have completed a management transition to the next generation. In this context, we would like to inform you not only about the personnel changes in our management.

Günther Kuhlmann founded Somatec 28 years ago and turned it into a successful company for special machines in the field of winding technology. On January 1, 2024, Günther Kuhlmann handed over the reins to his son Thorsten Kuhlmann, who is now managing director of SOMATEC. For us, this handover symbolizes not only a generational change, but also the confidence in Thorsten's abilities and vision to lead the company into a successful future.

At the same time, Hauke Kuhlmann has been appointed as an authorized signatory to support the company management in their work. Hauke has proven to be an important part of our team since joining the company, particularly through his commitment to after-sales service, where he has made a significant contribution to customer satisfaction.

The new heads of SOMATEC

Both Hauke and Thorsten Kuhlmann have had close ties to the family business since childhood.

After studying mechanical engineering at the University of Hanover, Thorsten joined our company in 2015 and has since held various positions in design, project management and most recently in sales. His technical expertise and market knowledge are the basis for understanding our customers' challenges and offering customized solutions.

Hauke Kuhlmann, our new authorized signatory, began his career after successfully completing an apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic in 2010 and then training as a technician. He has also been a core member of the After-Sales Service team since 2015 and has distinguished himself through his commitment and expertise. His work has helped us to offer our customers not only products, but also outstanding service.


We are proud to be entering a new phase with Thorsten and Hauke Kuhlmann, in which we will further consolidate and expand our position as a leading supplier of winding technology. At the same time, we would like to thank Mr. Günther Kuhlmann for the successful years together without whom this development would not have been possible.
